Mission for Essential Drugs and Supplies (MEDS) is a faith-based health solutions provider founded by an ecumenical partnership of the Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) and the Christian Health Association of Kenya (CHAK).  The Organization’s core mandate is to provide reliable and affordable Health Products and Technologies, Quality Assurance and Health Systems Strengthening Services MEDS was established in 1986 and serves clients spread all over Kenya, other regions in Africa and beyond.

The position will report to the Head of Finance & Investment and will be responsible for preparing complete, reliable accounting records and financial information.

Key responsibilities:

1. Ensure correctness of the General and subsidiary ledgers for accurate financial and management reports
2. Prepare management accounts and Board Reports to inform decision-making
3. Authorize financial transactions for accountability and control of resources
4. Manage Organizations’ cash and cash reserves by ensuring optimal funding of all bank and cash accounts
5. Monitor investment portfolio for optimum returns
6. Manage Staff Provident Fund Scheme
7. Prepare and maintain financial reports for donor funded projects for accountability
8. Manage the Organisational budgeting process
9. Negotiate and obtain finance for major projects
10. Undertake Cost Benefit Analysis to support Organizational Investment decisions and processes
11. Prepare Organization’s end of year Financial Statements and Reports
12. Coordinate statutory and donor-funded project external audits
13. Prepare and submit annual returns for statutory compliance

Job requirements:

1. Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance related field
2. Masters Degree in Finance, Business Administration or a business-related course
3. CPA (K)
4. Registered member of ICPAK
5. At least 7 years in accounting of which 3 is in Financial Management
