This course sets a platform in which participants gain knowledge and competences to address challenges of irrational medicines use at health facility level. The participants will learn and share experiences and challenges in rational use of medicines and identify strategies and activities to promote rational drug use. This course will address challenges of diagnosing and patient follow-up, prescribing, dispensing and use of medicines by patients. The participants will also gain skills on how to handle negative practices such as multiple prescribing, overprescribing of injections and antibiotics, use of brand names and prescribing outside the approved essential list due to influence by sales representatives. The course will also equip participants with skills on how to develop essential drugs list for their facility and form a medicines and therapeutic committees (MTC) to address the fore mentioned challenges of irrational drug use and pharmacovigilance.

 By the end of the session, participants will be able to: Manage patients accurately by making right diagnosis and giving correct treatment Identify complications from Hypertension and modification measures Request for correct laboratory investigations and be able to interpret results correctly Give correct and accurate treatment plan Give correct advice to patient, return dates where necessary or refer on time for further management.
